Who to invite?

I think this is THE hardest part of wedding planning. At first my Fiance and I wanted to invite everyone so nobody would be left out. We had a hefty number of 133 guests. We thought of having 100 max since we're not rolling in dough and we still live in an apartment that been under renovations for a year.

After reading this article, it has helped us tremendously to trim the guest list.

Do we really need to invite our old highschool/college friends? If you haven't spoken to someone in over a year then no.

How about coworkers? If you don't see yourself still speaking to these people outside of work a year from now then no.

We're now down to around 95 people which makes a huge difference. If the reception hall bills us 100$ a person, then it would be 9500$. We shall see how that goes when we finalize the menu for the reception hall sometime soon!

How did you narrow down your invitation list?

Inspiration Board

I had been trying to get myself an idea of what colors I'd like for our wedding. In the past, Mr. Ferret and I have been to weddings that always had these colors: pink, purple, pink, red, peach, pink...you get the idea. We did not want any of these colors since it had seriously been overdone by 10 or so weddings we both had gone to in the past. We also wanted something different.

We explored with the colors of green with white,  yellow with red, light blue with red, and green with teal.

Red is a good luck color in the Asian community, but I had a feeling that my relatives on my father's side would think that Mr. Ferret is Chinese (he's Vietnamese). They don't live in the city, so unfortunately they think that a lot of Asian people are the same.

The green with the teal worked really nice. However, there was something missing.

Then I thought of the yellow and red inspiration board. I loved the idea of using yellow. I find it fresh, inviting, and makes me feel happy. After telling my bridesmaids that I wanted to use yellow, none of them wanted to wear a yellow bridesmaid dress. I had to go on a new search and came upon these:

Random pictures I had saved on my computer for too long...

Mish-mash up everything and that's pretty much what we're going for. I really like it and I haven't seen anything like it around here!

Do you think it's a nice color pallette for an April wedding?

First Post!

Hello! This is my first blog - ever. I have written in many forums such as for weddings, eating disorders, ferrets, and video games. I want to put my ideas and thoughts on "paper" since there are so many thing going on in there.

A little about me:
I love to create things with my hands. I knit, crochet, make sweets, jewelry, and random arts and crafts. I always start a bunch of projects and I usually take a long long time before finishing them up. I want to change this bad habit of mine.

I enjoy eating healthy and try to cook more at home. I tend to make more sweets than meals though. I'm getting a lot of interesting vegan recipes from vegweb and expanding my knowledge to cook with different spices.

I am also obsessed with ferrets, hence the name I chose. Mr. Ferret brought home our first little guy almost 4 years ago and since then the little fuzzbutt family has grown plenty. At a time we had 10! Now we have 8 and that's a comfy number. However, anytime I pass by a pet store I am always extremely tempted to hop inside and check on the ferrets. Just look you say? I can't go home without bringing a little guy/girl home knowing that nobody wants to adopt him/her because they are too old...as in 6 months old. Anyways, enough of my ranting.

I started seeing Mr.Ferret back in June 2003. We met in in a shared club space at Dawson College. He was part of the Martial Arts Club and I was the president of Drawson (Comic Book and Animation Club). Instead of going to class we kept hanging out. Eventually, we became more than friends and now 6 years later we're engaged!

We haven't established a budget per se for the wedding. We are just saving in every area possible and grabbing deals on what we like. I'm also planning to do some DIY stuff like favors, invitations, decorations, and centerpieces. More info to come soon!
